Punching Machines and Tools for Precise, Versatile Punching

J. Schwarz uses a range of punching machines and tools to accommodate different materials, formats and requirements. Our machinery includes automatic flatbed punching machines for sheet materials, flatbed roll-fed punching machines and an electropneumatic reciprocating punching machine. This provides a range of technical solutions for punching sheet and roll materials.

The result depends on the interaction between punching technology, material, machine and tooling. For each project, we select the technical solution that suits the desired contour, starting material and production format.

Punching Technology for Sheet and Roll Materials

Technical films and multilayer materials can be processed as sheets or directly from rolls. J. Schwarz has five punching machines available for this purpose, offering different punching areas, accessories and technical capabilities.

When punching, the starting format, material and desired contour determine which machine type is used for the manufacturing task. Drawing on our experience, we select the appropriate punching technology for the specific application.

Automatic Flatbed Punching Machines for Sheet Materials

J. Schwarz uses two automatic flatbed punching machines for sheet formats. The maximum punching area is 1,200 × 800 mm.

During flatbed punching, the material is positioned on a flat surface and processed using the appropriate punching tool. Punching sheet materials enables reproducible production of different contours and formats.

The large punching area also allows large-format sheets to be incorporated into the manufacturing process.

Flatbed Roll-Fed Punching Machines for Roll Materials

Two flatbed roll-fed punching machines are available for materials supplied on rolls. They have a maximum punching area of 240 × 270 mm.

Processing roll materials is particularly suitable when films or multilayer materials need to be fed continuously into the punching machine. The roll format supports efficient, reproducible production of repeated punched parts.

The machine is selected according to the material, starting format and requirements of the finished part.

Electropneumatic Reciprocating Punching Machine for Roll and Sheet Materials

Our machinery also includes an electropneumatic reciprocating punching machine with a maximum punching area of 500 × 300 mm. It can process both roll and sheet materials.

This provides an additional technical option for accommodating different formats and manufacturing requirements. The combination of different punching machines offers flexibility when selecting the appropriate process.

Punching Tools Matched to the Manufacturing Task

Alongside the punching machine, the punching tool has a decisive influence on the process. During punching, tooling, material and machine must be precisely coordinated to produce the desired contour reproducibly.

J. Schwarz uses different tool designs depending on the material properties and requirements. Our range includes milled cutting plates, EDM-machined solid dies and steel rule dies.

Milled Cutting Plates

Milled cutting plates are among the punching tools used at J. Schwarz. The tool design selected for a specific product depends on the material, contour and manufacturing requirements.

EDM-Machined Solid Dies

EDM-machined solid dies are also available for suitable punching applications. They expand the options for selecting tooling matched to the product and material.

Steel Rule Dies

Another tooling option is the steel rule die. J. Schwarz uses steel rule dies or solid dies depending on the material properties and requirements.

The most suitable option in technical and economic terms is determined by the specific manufacturing task.

Coordinating Machine, Tooling and Material

A capable punching machine alone does not determine the quality of the finished part. Reproducible manufacturing requires material, tooling, punching area, starting format and component requirements to be considered together.

This is why J. Schwarz operates different machine types and punching tools. Sheet materials place different demands on the manufacturing process than roll materials, while contours, formats and material properties can also influence tool selection.

Our equipment allows punching technology to be tailored to each task, with a choice of machines and tooling suited to different products.

Punching Technology at J. Schwarz

Selecting the right punching machine for your product involves more than the component’s size. We assess the material, starting format, desired contour and requirements of the finished punched part.

We then select the combination of machine and punching tool that suits your specific manufacturing task. With automatic flatbed punching machines, flatbed roll-fed punching machines, a reciprocating punching machine and a range of tool designs, we can meet a variety of technical requirements.

For you, this means: Your product determines the technology we use.

Frequently Asked Questions About Punching Machines and Tools

Which punching machines does J. Schwarz use?

J. Schwarz operates two automatic flatbed punching machines, two flatbed roll-fed punching machines and an electropneumatic reciprocating punching machine.

What is the maximum punching area?

The automatic flatbed punching machines have a maximum punching area of 1,200 × 800 mm, the flatbed roll-fed punching machines offer 240 × 270 mm, and the electropneumatic reciprocating punching machine offers 500 × 300 mm.
